In the world, there are people of different behavior, nature, and thoughts. Some people do not think before taking any action, these actions may harm themselves or to the society. Terrorism is the thing which comes to mind with the intention of rebels or ownership. The gangs of terrorists are created by teaching them that killing other people across the world will take them to the heaven. Many youngsters become the victim of this cruel act and start believing these fake statements. Terrorism kills not only people but the confidence among them to live freely in the world. It creates a fear among countries. This is the main goal of these terrorists. For creating the fear among people, for taking rebels, or for getting done with their demands from governments of countries.
There are many attacks done by the terrorists in the world. 9/11 attack on World Trade Center in New York, 26/11 attack in Mumbai are one of the biggest attacks done by terrorists which killed many innocent people. There are several organizations and teams that try to stop the global terrorism. For creating awareness among people about the terrorism and educating people about not being a victim of it there we celebrate World Anti-Terrorism Day on 21st May every year.
History of World Anti Terrorism Day | Why World Anti Terrorism Day is celebrated?
In India, the martyrdom of former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi is on 21st May. He had been victimized by this menace and to honor and respect his contribution this day is celebrated as his death anniversary and Anti-Terrorism day. This concept of Anti-Terrorism day came into the picture because thousands of youngsters are brainwashed, hypnotized, and kidnapped for making them, terrorists. Poverty, illiteracy, and unemployment are few of the reasons behind terrorism. To prevent them from such acts and making people aware of how these youngsters are joining such organizations. Every year two-minute silence is observed in India to mourn the loss of Shri Rajiv Gandhi and many other innocent people who have been victimized by the terrorism. World Anti-Terrorism Day is celebrated to promote peace, unity, and harmony in the nation and world.
How is World Anti Terrorism Day celebrated?
On this day, the Anti-Terrorism and Anti-Violence pledge is taken by the government officers and the public. The pledge is as follows: “We, the people of India, having an abiding faith in our country’s tradition of non-violence and tolerance, hereby solemnly affirm to oppose with our strength, all forms of terrorism and violence. We pledge to uphold and promote peace, social harmony, and understand among all fellow human beings and fight the forces of disruption threatening human lives and values.”
Many different activities take place on this day such as seminars promoting anti-terrorism, the floral wreath is laid on Rajiv Gandhi statue and taking the oath. This day is celebrated across the world with the main aim of abolishing terrorism from the world and making people aware of it. There are several camps and organizations that teach people or spread awareness of how to not be a victim of terrorism.
Terrorism is the threat to the world which is creating diversity, rebels, anger, and violence everywhere. It should be stopped and abolished. This world Anti-Terrorism Day is the key step towards it which is celebrated annually on 21st May.
