For some the freedom is to do whatever they want, go wherever they want, say whatever they want, eat, sing, talk, think, travel, live, wherever, whatever and however they want and every individual has his/her own definition and opinion about the freedom. India got freedom what we call independence from British rule in 1947 which we celebrate as Independence day on 15th August every year. And on 26th January 1950, the constitution came into force which was adopted by the Indian Constituent Assembly in 1949. The constitution was drafted by the team led by Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar. We celebrate the day with great spirit and enthusiasm. But how many of us actually know it is important to celebrate the Republic day of India every year?  DOn’t worry We are here to help you. This year on 26th January 2018 India will celebrate It’s 68th Republic day which is also called as ‘Gantantra Diwas’ (गणतंत्र दिवस ) in Hindi.  It is celebrated in every school, college, university, and all educational and government institutes. it is also a national gazetted holiday. A huge ceremony is organised to celebrate the Republic day  Rajpath in Delhi. A huge parade takes place which showcases the traditional heritage of each state in India and also the display of military equipment to showcase the defence power of India. The president and prime minister of India give their speech and the Indian Tricolor flag is hoisted. Each year a chief guest who represent another country or is the leader from other country invited for the republic day ceremony. But why is it necessary and so important to celebrate the republic day every year?

Why is it necessary to celebrate the Republic Day?

The republic day of India has a very warm place in our hearts as it marks the existence of the Republic of India. Every Indian celebrates the republic day with great enthusiasm and proud. It has different significance and relevance for different people and the only thing in common which is the love and proud towards our nation, India. Indian got its independence from the British rule after 190 years and the sacrifices of thousands of people, freedom fighters who martyred in the fight for the freedom. The day 26th January 1950 marks the enforcement of our own constitution, making India a sovereign, secular, and democratic nation and people of India truly experienced the freedom from British Rule.

On this day Dr. Rajendra Prasad took oath as India’s first President at Durbar Hall in the Government House, Delhi, which was followed by a Presidential drive of a 5-mile route to the Irwin Stadium, where he hoisted the National Flag followed by a 21 gun salute. And this is how the annual tradition of flag hoisting and a parade started.

Importance of Republic Day in Students and Youth

Getting independence of the most important and historic moment for India and the Republic day marks the enforcement of our own constitution making India a Republic. Every citizen of India should be aware its heritage and the important events and what could be more important than the republic day itself. Celebrating the republic day by hoisting the tricolour flag in schools and colleges will help to grow the patriotism and love for the nation in the hearts of students. The day is celebrated to commemorate the sacrifices made by our freedom fighters and thousands of people who fought for the independence. The independence because of which we are living a free life, having education and living in the society with proud. The youth of India is the pillar of development and is the future of India. And no future can be made until you know your past. The republic day makes us remember the how fortunate we are breathing in the freedom of India and encourage us to build a better and stronger India.

Importance of Republic Day in Daily Life

India got independence because of the fight and sacrifices made by our freedom fighters. Our soldiers and police forces risking their lives to protect us from the enemy and terrorists who want to cause harm to our country, us and our freedom. People of the soldiers and police forces and many other individuals we are living safely in India. Hence should not take our freedom for granted and must not try to do anything which can cost the integrity of our country and ourselves as a human being. The republic day makes us remember that our freedom was the result of many hardships and sacrifices and we should work to make our country better by fulfilling our civic duties and responsibilities as rights come with responsibilities.

Importance of Republic Day for Preschoolers

Children’s minds are shaped when they are in their early age. Our heritage is our pride and it is the results of thousands of years. Children learn what they told, what they see and what they listen and this can impact their life deeply. Celebrating the republic day and independence day in preschools will sow the seed of patriotism and love towards our nation in their early age and these children will become responsible citizens of India and contribute to making our nation stronger.

The Republic Day of India has a great importance and significance in our lives as this day made Indian and independent,  a sovereign, secular, and democratic nation. And this day should be celebrated with great proud and enthusiasm.

  • Essay generally have three main parts, Introduction, impact or more detailed info and then summary or conclusion. Don’t use headers in the essay. But you should divide the essay into these 3 logical sections.
  • Try to maintain a flow between sections. Carry forward a point from the last paragraph and then take it forward.
  • You can start a new paragraph with words or phrases like “on another hand, plus, at first, however”.
