History of International Women’s Day 2019 | How and When it started?
It is very difficult to say exactly when it started. Back in 1910, 15000 women march to New York city asking for better pay and voting rights. This event was noticed by the public and government too, a year later first-ever National Women’s Day was observed in the US on 28th February. In 1911 it was proposed that every country should celebrate Women’s Day. Next year in 1911 it was celebrated for the first time in Austria, Denmark, Switzerland, and Germany on March 19th. In 1938 the day is transferred to March 8th and since then it is celebrated on the same day.
Importance and Significance of International Women’s Day | Why we celebrate it?
It’s been more than a century when it started, but there is a question, why we still celebrate it? Is a century not enough to solve the women’s problem? How long will it take to solve these problems? When will women have equal rights and equal opportunities in society?
Let’s be realistic, do you think the world is fair enough? It is 2018 and we still don’t see gender equality, equal pay, and opportunities for the women. Still, there is a big gap globally in women’s education, health, crime towards women. And that is exactly why it is important to celebrate the International Women’s Day and make the society aware of this vision of IWD.

The theme for International Women’s Day 2019
You might don’t know it but, from the last decade, a specific theme is used for celebrating the International Women’s Day. For the year 2017 theme was “Be Bold For Change“. The theme for International Women’s Day of 2018 was “Time is Now: Rural and urban activists transforming women’s lives”.
The theme for International Women’s Day of 2019 is Balance for Better. This theme for 2019 will campaign with a hashtag #BalanceforBetter

How to celebrate International Women’s Day in 2019
Rather than doing nothing at least you can wish women in your life with gifts, greetings, and flowers. There is a question to ask, is it a just another day to celebrate? Is it just another day to send a greeting, flowers, and chocolates? Do you think you need to do something else? What we believe is, one should act to really appreciate the women in their life.
Don’t just take a selfie with them and uploaded to social media, support them in their career, be with them for their freedom. Let them take jobs, responsibilities and achieve their dreams. Take a pledge to help them with daily chores, let them participate in financial decisions.
