The JEE main (Joint Entrance Exam) is a national level exam conducted in India. The JEE main exam previously went by the name AIEEE which stands for All India Engineering Entrance Examination. It is used as a standard of skill for entry into various B.Tech programmes in a large number of B.Tech colleges and universities all over India. As the examination is a national level exam, it provides the students with a score with reference to all those who have attempted the exam from all over the nation. Now we shall see how the top B.Tech colleges in India inculcate the JEE main exam as a standard for admission into the various courses they offer.

All the top BTech Colleges in India such as Assam University, Silchar, JK Institute of Applied Physics and Technology, Allahabad, Silicon Institute of Technology, Bhubaneswar and Shiv Nadar University, Dadri have provision for admissions through the JEE main 2018 exam. The JEE main exam is held in many centers across India. Some of the states it is conducted in are as follows – Himachal Pradesh, Karnataka, Chennai, Bihar, Daman. The exam is conducted in centers which are provided by various B.Tech colleges in the states where it is conducted. The B.Tech colleges conducting the exam online or offline provide exam halls with computing facilities if it is online and sufficient seating facilities if it is being conducted offline.

The exam is conducted in Hindi and English languages. The colleges in which the exam takes place provide invigilation faculty for the exam who conduct the exam in the institute with the help of some persons appointed by the JEE main conducting committee as individuals responsible for overseeing the exam and resolving any problems that may occur during the course of conducting the exam.

The JEE main exam conducting authority has established cutoffs as a standard for a student being eligible to be admitted into the various top B.Tech colleges in India. These cutoffs will decide whether a student can get into the B.Tech courses offered by top B.Tech colleges. A student with a higher JEE main score will have a chance of being admitted to their desired B.Tech course in a more prestigious B.Tech college in India. As of 2017, the cutoff for students from the general category was a JEE main score of 81; Those for SC/ST (Scheduled Caste/Scheduled Tribe) was a JEE main score of 32 and 27 respectively. The cutoff for OBCs (Other Backward Classes) was around 49.
