Essay on My Role Model

We are human beings, social, emotional animal. We tend to feel blue, lost sometimes because of circumstances or personal dilemmas. When we are not able to lift our self out of it then we tend to seek inspiration outside. When we don’t know how to do things on own we start to look up to someone who is successful and made the impact and that’s where the role models come in our life.

Everyone needs inspiration, some role model to follow because they give us the path to lead, they inspire us, their success, work makes us do things, make efforts. Some find that role model in parents, teachers, athletes, leaders, business people, influencers, mother or father. We look up to them and try to replicate.

This is a good tactic to come out of disbeliefs and sorrows but I believe this is not a good long term strategy. One should have a role model there is no problem with that but when you start acting like your role model, when you are not actually enjoying the process then that’s a bigger problem. If your role model makes mistakes, it will shatter you like a fragile glass. You need to understand that your role model is also a human being, gone through different situations, problem and time in history, or going through problems of the present. These are the things which make or break. Things which are/were relevant to them may or may not be relevant to today’s life or situation around you. So I believe, you yourself should be your role model.

One might think he/she haven’t done a great work, changed the world, or haven’t made the impact on the world then how he/she can be a role model. Here we are not saying that you become a role model to others; that’s not the goal. You should be a role model to yourself. One should not always look outside for the help, look inside you because only you can change yourself. Start with the small things, celebrate the smaller successes and repeat. These smaller victories will accumulate over time and turn into a big success. Here are the things you can do to start believing yourself and to be your own role model.

Life is the Biggest University

We believe that we can only learn from books or from other people but the LIFE is the biggest teacher or education system out there. It’s free for whole life, we just need to open your eyes and observe problems it pours on you, its miracles and its grandeur. Do not get blinded by the expectation of a perfect life, a life without problems is not possible in this world. Money can make your life better but it cannot prevent the problems. Problems are inevitable, the only way is the face them, fight them and learn from them.

Make Mistakes

We often told by parents, the society that we should not make mistake. People who don’t make mistakes never learn, but to make mistake you need to try to do something. That doesn’t mean one should seek pile of failure as success, the goal is to learn. When you will try something you may not get it in the first attempt. Learn from it and go ahead. Do you know who are the experts? Expert is one who has gone through all the possible mistakes, if YOU want to be the expert of your life then you got to make mistakes but you must learn from it and keep walking.

Do Not Underestimate Yourself

We always complain, we blame others, God, nature or situations. When the solution is lies within you. You have to believe in yourself, accept yourself then only you will start respecting yourself. Everybody on this earth is gifted, not only those who are succeeded in life. It only depends when you find your gift. When you accept yourself, once you start loving yourself then nothing in this world can stop you. Never underestimate yourself you can do much better things than you ever imagined.

Have a Goal

Sometimes we don’t know what we want from the life, and when you don’t know what you want to achieve then how you can reach there. The absence of the goal makes us fall in the corporate rat race. Your goal can be personal, social, financial whatever it is, you must know it.

“Dream is not the thing you see in sleep but is that thing that doesn’t let you sleep- A.P.J. Abdul Kalam “.

Don’t just keep dreaming, you need to have a goal for that dream. The goal is a not goal until and unless you put a timeline to it, that means a plan. You need to plan your day, ways you the things then only over the time you will achieve the goal and ultimately fulfill your dreams.

Understand the Problem

Imagine you are in the exam hall, all prepared; you get a blank answer shit but not questions. What are the chances that you will get good marks in it though you know all the answers? Try to understand the question and then give the solution.

These are not the direct solution to make you believe in yourself or to become your own role model. These things will make better day by day, help you believe in yourself, respecting and loving yourself. And once you reach there nothing can stop you, that is why you should be your own role model and should not get restricted by others success, you might do much better than them.
