Well, 2019, the new year is here. Like us, there are few curious people searching answer for this question, “Which country celebrates new year day all year around”. And guess what I know the answer. But before giving you the answer, let me build up the suspense. J
Almost all the world now use the Gregorian calendar and celebrate the new year on 1 January each year, but this is just a one-day celebration. There are countries like China, Korea (N/S), Vietnam which celebrate a new year on different dates. But there is a country having more than half of dozen of days people celebrate as a new year day, from January to December; all year around. And that is India. India has a lot of diversity, dozens of languages, cultures, festivals and what not. Following is the list of days people from different parts of India celebrate a new year.
1st Day of Chaitra, March 22, 2016: This day was celebrated as new year in Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Chhattisgarh and Jharkhand as “Chaitra Navratri“. It is “Ugadi in Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, and Telangana. Same day is celebrated as “Gudi Padwa” in Maharashtra and Goa (I am from Maharashtra, we celebrate this). Same day is celebrated as new in Rajasthan.
April 14th: “Rongali Bihu” is celebrated as new year in Assam, “Puthandu” in Tamil Nadu; “Vishu” is Kerala and “Baisakhi” in Punjab. 8th November 2018 will be celebrated as the new year is Gujrat.
