Before Independence of India, British were ruling our country. There were some legends who helped in several ways for the independence of India. Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar is one of those great social reformers. He was independent India’s first law minister and principal architect of Constitution of India. He earned Doctorate in economics and did research in law, economics and political science because of this he gained a reputation as a scholar. Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar was a jurist, economist, politician and social reformer. This article will give you information about Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar Jayanti and his life.

Bhimrao Ramji Ambedkar was born on 14th April 1891. He was born into a poor family which was considered of lower caste. People with lower caste were said to be untouchables. He was the first Indian with higher degrees at that time. He was a great jurist, politician, and economist.  He was working as a tutor, as an accountant and established his business of an investment consulting. But it failed as his clients got to know that he was untouchable. Babasaheb Ambedkar fought for abolishing the untouchability from society.

Today, we celebrate his birthday in the form of Babasaheb Ambedkar Jayanti on 14th April every year. It is 126th Jayanti of his, in the year 2017. People celebrate this day with different activities like dancing, painting, singing songs on his biography, debates and much more. School and colleges organize some events such as essay writing, speech, and a quiz where the goal is to pay homage Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar and educate students about this legend.

People gather on this day to celebrate Babasaheb Ambedkar Jayanti with joy and respect. There are many themes and idea with which people try celebrating this day across the country. Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar has a fundamental role in creating the Constitution of India. In his honor, every year an event is organized in the Parliament of India where the prominent leaders pay homage to his statue.

Social sites are another way of wishing each other on this day. Instead of only forwarding and sending quotes and messages through SMS to each other, people should understand the meaning of those quotes and try to follow the principles which Babasaheb Ambedkar created. On this day, with joy, people should do some resolutions and achieve them. Even today, somewhere we see discrimination amongst people on the ground of their caste, religion or may be gender. Celebrating this day is not about delivering the speech and attending the activities out there. People should first start behaving and accepting the things which Babasaheb did in his life.

For celebrating Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar Jayanti there could be several ways such as:

  • People should stop judging and discriminate others on the basis of anything.
  • Try to know more about Babasaheb by reading and understanding his biography.
  • Instead of spending money on the arrangement of the events, help poor people for their education.
  • People should start empowering women and treat them respectfully.
  • People should not misuse the rights which Ambedkar fought for.

These are not the only ways to celebrate this day, but people should start the celebration in a new way rather than only following the previous patterns. Equality is the main thing for which Babasaheb Ambedkar was fighting in his life. People should understand it and live life in that way.
