15 to 20 Lines Short Essay on Holi for Class 4,5 Students

Holi is an Indian spring festival celebrated in the whole of India with great energy and enthusiasm. It is also called as “Festival of Colors”. Holi signified the triumph of good over evil, it also celebrated the end of winter and arrival of the spring season. Spring blossoms the flora and fauna with a different hue of colors that is why Holi is celebrated with colors.

The root of Holika Dahan is in Indian mythology. King Hiranyakashipu had a son Prahlad, who was a great devotee of Lord Vishnu. Hiranyakashipu called his sister Holika to kill his son. She had a special veil or magic robe, which had the power to save the wearer from burning in fire.

Holika tried to kill Prahlad in the fire, expecting she will survive with the power of magic robe. But the reverse happened and Prahlad came out of a fire safely but Holika was burnt to death. Moral of the story is no one can harm the person who had God as his/her savior.

Holi is a 2-day festival, on first day’s night, we burn bonfire to symbolize Holika Dahan. Next day called Rangwali, Dhuleti or Rang Panchami which we celebrate with colors.

Holi festival is crossing the Indian boundaries now. In the west, many people organize Holi event, a lot of people come together and enjoy the festival of colors. But they celebrate it as an event, party or a show without realizing the real significance and importance of Holi festival.
